Douglas A. Gessell
Douglas A. Gessell grew up in the Stockton area. He obtained his Bachelors of Arts degree from Brigham Young University in 1993. After working as a Public School Teacher, he returned to obtain his Juris Doctor degree from J. Rueben Clark School of Law, at Brigham Young University in 2000. Upon graduating, he promptly passed the California Bar exam and started working as an associate for a civil defense firm in Redding, California. He then began working as an associate with the plaintiff’s firm of Sayre & Chavez in Sacramento, California, where he was involved in a broad array of multi-million dollar, personal injury cases from inception to trial. In 2005, he and Steven L. Brown formed their current firm.
He is married with five children. He is active in his church, having served a 2-year church mission in Spain. He enjoys family, golf, basketball, and fishing.
Steven L. Brown
Steven L. Brown, was raised in the Bay Area and has lived in the San Joaquin Valley for 17 years. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University in 1989, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Kappa Phi. He then obtained his Juris Doctor degree from J. Rueben Clark School of Law, at Brigham Young University, in 1993. During law school, he clerked for the firm of Ivie and Young. Upon graduating, he promptly passed the California Bar exam and was hired by the medical malpractice defense firm of Craddick, Candland and Conti, in Danville, California, where he had clerked in law school. He subsequently became a partner. In 2005, he and Douglas A. Gessell formed their current firm. He is currently serving as the President of the San Joaquin County Bar Association and serves on the Bar Foundation and various and diverse committees. He is active in the local legal community, and he particpates in the local chapter of the American Inn of Courts, which focuses on legal ethics and promotes civility in the legal community. However, he is also actively a member of the California trial lawyer's organization, the Consumer Attorney's of California, and he maintains connections with fellow medical malpractice attorneys throughout California. His ongoing participating in these professional organizations and ongoing connections create a powerful resource in battling the insurance defense companies and their hired attorneys. He also prides himself on his ability to continue learning the techiniques of trial work to better represent his clients by obtaining the best settlements and verdicts.
He is married to his wife whom he met in college, and they have three children spanning from college to middle school. He is active in his church, having served a 2-year church mission in Sweden. He enjoys his family, cycling, and traveling. He completed the Triple Crownm cycling in three 200 mile rides and 40,000 feet of climbing. He speaks fluent Swedish and is learning Spanish, which is much more practical in the valley. He loves representing those who have been injured and need help. There is great satisfaction in championing his clients.
